Despite wet conditions the Florida Launch powered their way to an 11-8 victory over the Charlotte Hounds. The Launch seized their first win in the short history of the team and are now 1-1 on the season. Player of the game, Garrett Thul, had three goals on seven shots on the goal and had the first hat trick for the team on the season. Casey Powell also added two goals of his own to go along with two assists. Grant Kaleikau had two goals and Crowley, Lao-Gosney, Amidon and Ventiquattro each added a goal of their own. Brett Queener had 18 saves on 26 shots on goal.
“It was a great first win for the program and especially in front of our home crowd,” said Head Coach Stan Ross. “Our guys played hard this weekend and deserved this win. We are now looking towards next weekend and taking on the Ohio Machine.”
This is a major milestone as the Launch grab their first ever win after losing to the Denver Outlaws last week even after outscoring them 9-3 in the second half. While the Launch are now .500, the Hounds fall to 0-2. The Launch look to take the momentum of this win to propel them to another when they take the field against the Ohio Machine next Saturday, May 10, at FAU Stadium. This is a key matchup because the Launch then go on the road for the two weeks following.
